Many people are curious as to what happens to the used lumber at the end of the year.

Rockbuilt Lofts uses new lumber for each new loft built, we believe that safety comes first and quality is important when it comes to building your loft. So where does all the used lumber at the end of the year go? Rockbuilt Lofts has set up a recycling program which is made up of volunteers who set aside their time to come and process the used lumber.

MSU dumps off loads of lumber to our property and so begins the process of pulling nails, taking off brackets and sorting sizes. The majority of the lumber this year went to building a new church, high school shop classes and a large amount went to Haiti this year, where desks and beds are going to be built in an orphanage. The lumber is not worth anything to many people but it is a tremendous blessing to those who cannot afford to buy it on their own. Last year a semi-truck load full went down to Texas to build shelves in a Christian mission near Mexico. The owner, his wife and some crew members were the ones that actually drove the truck 32 hours to the bottom of Texas and built numerous shelves for the mission. Please check out some of the photos of this years processing. The lumber seen in these photos is only a fraction of how much we process.
